Missha Magic Cushion - Line Friends Edition

Missha has recently launched a special limited edition collection in collaboration with Line Friends. I am a regular user of the messenger app LINE and love collecting the stickers on the app so when i saw this line I fell in love and wanted to purchase the whole line. However, I restrained myself and only purchased the magic cushion. There are two version of the cushion: Brown and Sally. Brown (which is the one i purchased) contains the regular version of Missha's Magic Cushion while Sally contains the moisture version of the Magic Cushion. I tend to have a more oiler skin type so i opted for Brown. Hope you enjoy this review on this super cute product!

Product
Missha Magic Cushion Special Kit [Line Friends Edition]
Price
$15USD+
Shade
no. 23
Content
15g + 2 Refills
Where I bought mine

Firstly, I just want to say that this kit is such a great value. For $15USD (depending on where you buy it) you get the initial cushion and two extra refills! I mean I usually purchase the one cushion foundation without refills for $15! The only down side is that the refills do not contain cushion puffs with each refill.

Packaging
I don't think i need to say much about the packaging. The photos tell it for me. It is just so cute! I love the line friend Brown and let's talk about how adorable the cushion puff is! I'll be honest though the outer case being plastic feels a tad cheap compared to the normal cushion cases with the silver rims. But in saying that, the cushion itself is sealed very securely in its own protective case so that is all that matters.

The Cushion
The cushion sponge which contains the foundation is quite hard. In saying that I only own one other cushion, one by The Face Shop which I reviewed here. The Face Shop's cushion does claim to have a "new microfoam" though so maybe its a special type cushion sponge that is alot softer. The cushion foundation contains SPF50+ PA+++ which is always a good thing since sun is the no.1 cause of aging!
Shade
The cushion comes in two shades. 21 and 23. I bought no.23. Usually shade no.23 in most korean foundations matches me quite well. However 23 in this magic cushion is a little too light for my skintone so i have to blend the product down my neck which can be troublesome.

Application
Since its a fresh new cushion, I didn't have to push down much at all to get product onto the puff. Really I shouldn't have pushed at all since i ended up with too much product on the puff (oops) The application though was very good. It has a very thin and moisturising formula which does not feel heavy on the skin at all so it is very easy to blend and build-up coverage.
Finish
The moisture version of this cushion supposedly leaves a moisturised and glowy finish to the skin and the regular magic cushion (which is the one I have) leaves a matte/semi-matte finish. The foundation doesn't set on its own, leaving a tacky touch so I suggest setting it with a powder. On my normal-oily skin, this cushion foundation leaves a glowy healthy sheen. I did set it with powder, but the glow was still there even after powdering which I liked. I would say it has a satin finish, not overly glowly but not matte. Despite leaving a glow, i don't think this foundation will be good for those with dry skin-types. I don't have dry skin but i did notice the foundation cake up and accentuate a small dry scab on my nose. (maybe that's why there is a moisture version of this foundation)
Coverage
This foundation gives a light to buildable medium coverage. It is not full coverage but It covers redness, uneven skintone and light scars. It does not cover new or dark scars or dark circles. Overall, I'm happy with the coverage since I rather use foundation to just cover overall redness and uneven skintone and use a concealer for dark spots.

Longevity
I live in Australia and it is summer here at the moment. I would think this foundation is great for the winter months when the weather is drier and my skin doesn't get as oily. However, because of its glowy finish, in the summer months it needs touch-ups and powdering after several hours of wear. the cushion foundation did cake up around my nose after a few hours of wear. I would say It has decent longevity for those with normal or dry skin-types but for those who have oily skin, i recommend powdering and touching up throughout the day.

Pros
Inexpensive- Great price for 15g+2 refills
SPF50+ PA+++
Super cute packaging
Easy application
Satin finish- leaves glowy healthy sheen
Doesn't feel or look heavy on skin- light moisturising formula
Covers redness, light scars and uneven skintone
Doesn't cake up when touching up

Con
Transfers if you touch your face
Does not set on its own- needs setting powder otherwise it feels tacky upon touch
Does not cover dark circles of dark spots/scars
Cakes up around nose over time
Can accentuate dry patches
Refills do not contain puffs
Line Friends packaging is limited edition :(

Final Verdict
4/5
For its amazing price, the cushion performs really well. I recommend this cushion to beginners or those who want a decent cushion foundation but do not want to spend a fortune. Bonus that it has a super cute packaging. I love Brown and Line friends! Sadly its limited edition so get it while you still can!

Korean Beauty Haul [Roseroseshop]

This was my first purchase from Roseroseshop. Roseroseshop has a great variety of korean makeup and skincare products at very affordable prices. However, their shipping is weight based and quite pricey. For 3 small items it would have costed $9USD (<1.5kg) for shipping. In the end, if you include shipping cost with their affordable item prices, it equates to buying at other sites such as Jolse. (who has higher item prices but free shipping)

My order was made on the 9/07/2015 and was delivered to me on the 24/07/2015.  It took a total of 15 days, which is reasonable. They also included a number of free samples. Overall, I am satisfied and would recommend the website.

Now on with the haul!

1.
Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Cream
I love the Innisfree green tea seed serum and so decided to get the accompanying cream to go with it.

2.
Apieu Pure Block Natural Sun Cream DAILY SPF45 SPF+++
Suncreams can be a yes and no on my skin. I've tried many and my no.1 favourite sun block is the Biore UV Aqua Rich. However, I cannot find anywhere reliable and cheap in shipping to repurchase it so I opted to try out this sun block. I tested it on my hand, and first impressions is that it smells strongly of your typical sunscreen, very light in texture, easily blend-able and leaves no white cast. However, it does leave a dewy and moisturised finish. Hopefully it will work with my oily skin.

3.
Mamonde Soft Bloom Make-up Base
I found out about this product from a korean beauty youtuber. I wore it under my cushion foundation for the first time today and I am enjoying it so far. It brightens up my complexion without given it a white case which I  appreciate.

4.
Aritaum Sugerball Velvet Blusher in no.3 Peach in Coral
I was deciding between the velvet or cushion version, however since I have oily skin, I decided to go for the velvet blusher which is a powder form. It is a nice muted peachy nude colour and has tiny glitters which cannot be seen unless someone look closely at your face.

5.
The Face Shop Gel-set Smudgeproof Autoliner in no.1 black
I have finally found my holy grail eyeliner. Every liner smudges on my eyes, but boy oh boy, not this one. It is a rich intense black colour and stays put on my eyes all day long!

6.
Peripera Lumi Pang in PK10 Kiss Presentiment
Peripera came out with new and limited edition colours in the Pang range. I instantly fell inlove and needed to own them. I love the Peripera pang lippies and have reviewed them here. I hope they don't discontinue them. PK10 in the lumi range is a bright bubblegum pink. bright and fluorescent.

7.
Peripera Rouge Pang PK10 Chemi Explosion
The rouge pangs are pigmented, moisturising and affordable. When I saw swatches of this particular limited edition shade, I knew I had to own it. PK10 is a bright pinky-salmon shade and it so beautiful.

Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum Lucky Box

The Green Tea Seed Serum is a holy grail item in my skincare routine. When I saw the Lucky box deal, I couldn't resist and ordered one. I was running low of my current green tea serum bottle so this lucky box deal was a bonus.

This isn't a review, but more so an unboxing and revealing of the items included in the box. Enjoy!

Brand
Innisfree
Product
Green Tea Seed Serum Lucky Box
Price
Items included
Green Tea Seed Serum 80ml
Lucky Handy Mirror
Cotton pads x20
and
1 LUCKY ITEM.

The box which includes a total of 4 items retails for the price of the green tea serum if you were to buy it by itself which I think is a very good deal.

The lucky item was between the full sized green tea oil, cream, cleansing bar, cleansing foam, and 50ml serum+capsule pack. Obviously  I knew the chances of getting the oil and cream were unlikely since the two retail at a high price point.

The Lucky item I ended up receiving was the Green tea cleansing bar retailed at $10-$15. I haven't used any facial cleansing bars before, so I am looking forward to trying this one out!

The cotton pads are your standard pads you can purchase at any asian beauty shops. They seem like they are good quality.

The mirror is very cute. Its make is exactly like a button pin is made (minus the pin and addition of a mirror ofcourse.) The leaf design is very cute and appropriate of the Innisfree natural brand. It is a good quality mirror you can throw in your hand bag and use on the go.

I am really happy I purchased this lucky box. I knew my luck wasn't going to get my one of the high priced products. Searching the net, I found majority of those who have bought this lucky box received the cleanser bar and foam. For the price, I think it is an amazing deal.

Until next time, Thank you for reading!

The Face Shop Oil Control Water Cushion Review

Cushion Foundations. They are everywhere and loved by many. I finally gave in and bought my first cushion and I have to say it won't be my last. This review is on The Face Shop Oil Control Water Cushion. Let's get started!

Brand
The Face Shop
Product
The Face Shop Oil Control Water Cushion
All Proof
Moist Cover + Fresh Fit + Long-lasting
SPF 50+ PA+++
Shade
V201 Apricot Beige
Content
15g / 0.52 oz.
Product Description
Cushion foundation recharges skin with moisture wile controlling sebum for long lasting freshness.
Moist-cover effect promotes a healthy look while covering up imperfections and pigmentation.
Sebum control formula helps keep makeup shine free.
Sweet proof effect keeps makeup in perfect condition for hours.
New microfoam keeps makeup feel as fresh as when it is first applied.

Packaging
Standard packaging for cushion foundations. The compact feels and looks sturdy and not cheap. The air puff is standard and good quality.

Shade
Although I normally get the darker shade when purchasing korean foundations, the sales assistant was positive I was the lighter shade. The tester even matched my skintone. 201 is definitely too light for me. However, to make it work I wear it and use a darker foundation and bronzer on the outer edges of my face.

Application
Easy application using the air puff that comes with the cushion foundation.
5/5

Finish
Non-sticky and non heavy feeling finish. My face feels and looks soft. Being a 'water' cushion, It does not leave a dewy finish. However, it does leave a healthy natural glow to the skin. No dryness is accentuated and overall my face is soft and does not feel cakey or heavy.
5/5

Coverage
The coverage is medium-high and quite excellent for how light it applies and looks on the skin. It covers redness and does not clog pores or make them look enlarged. It is build-able and doesnt end up looking cakey as long as you layer up with light applications.
4/5

Oil Control
I wore this foundation from 12pm - 10pm without primer or setting powder and retouched once on my nose and cheeks(for some reason I didn't retouch my forehead). By the end of the night only my forehead was shiny and oily. This cushion also transfers easily without a powder if you touch your face. So I recommend you set this cushion with a spray or powder or touch up throughout the day.

Update 25/07/2015- Wearing a primer base and powder really helps. By the end of the day, my skin still looked as fresh as it did when I first applied the cushion. No shiny or oily-ness and no cakey-ness.

4/5

Longevity
Like I mentioned above, I wore the foundation for 10 hours. By the end of the night, my face still looked pretty good (minus the shiny forehead). Having no setting powder or primer, my face did not look cakey and the foundation did not crease or move about. Only on the areas where I did touch up a bit earlier looked just a little cakey but only close up. Overall, I am really impressed with the longevity of this foundation.
5/5

Pros
Didn't break me out
Non-sticky finish
Satin/ natural finish
does not need primer or setting powder (for those with normal to dry skin types)
Medium coverage - covers redness and uneven dull skin
Long lasting

Cons
Oil control not adequate for those with oil skin types ( primer/ setting powder reccommended)
Transfers easily if you touch your face
not waterproof- tears and water will mix in and break down the cushion (not pretty)
Does not fully cover dark pigmentation and acne scars

Final thoughts
I am really impressed with this cushion foundation. It is long lasting, leaves a natural and light finish and has great coverage for its light formula. I am just sad that I bought the wrong shade.

5/5

Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off Mask Review

Brand
Skinfood
Product
Black Sugar Mask Wash Off
Content
100g
Price
$6.26 at Koreadepart

Packaging
The packaging is a sturdy plastic tub that contains 100g of product. Although appropriate for Skinfood's 'eco friendly' image, I find the packaging is inappropriate in some areas. Since the surface material is paper, you would need to avoid letting water touch the lid. Also, despite being in a tub, it doesn't come with a spatula which can make application messy and unhygienic. However, overall the tub is very sturdy so I cannot hate the packaging design.

Product

Description
A mask that contains mineral enriched Brazilian black sugar and promotes smooth glowing skin.

The Skinfod Black Sugar Mask is a combination of a leave-on wash off mask and exfoliating scrub. The product itself is a very thick jam-like formula that contains large sugar particles. However, I would have to say the grainy texture can be abrasive to those with sensitive skin.

The product also has a very strong sweet lemon scent to it, which I personally dislike. (I am not fond of lemon scents) However, to those who love citrus scents, this fragrance might be your cup of tea.

Application

To use:
After cleansing massage onto damp face, avoiding the eye and mouth areas. To minimise irritation, add water or toner while massaging. Leave for 10-15 minute. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

The product is very thick so a spatula is definitely needed to scoop out the product from the tub. Despite its thick and grainy formula, application isn't too difficult. Due to its main ingredient being sugar, the product and some sugar particles melt upon touching the warm skin. That being said, application still feels a little abrasive. However, an addition of a bit of water can help lessen the abrasiveness.

Effectiveness
Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with the effects this mask gave to my skin. Having read endless reviews raving how amazing this exfoliating mask is, it did not live up to my expectations.

Reading about how this product effectively removes blackheads, brightens dull complexion and makes the skin soft and dead skin-free, I was really excited to use it. However, It did not get rid of my blackheads nor did it remove all my flaky dead skin. Though, it does temporarily brighten the complexion, tightens pores and make the skin soft and smooth. Overall, It is a good mask for its price.

I would have to say I prefer the VDL Naked Facial Exfoliant (which has a more gentle formula) over the Skinfood Black sugar mask. If you would like to read my review on the VDL Naked facial exfoliant click here!

Pros
Leaves skin feeling soft and smooth
Reduction in pore size
Temporary brightening effect
Moisturising

Cons
No effect on blackheads
Did not effectively remove all dry flaky spots
Strong lemon scent (Con for some)
Grainy formula might be abrasive to sensitive skin

Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Serum Review

Not only do I love the taste of green tea, but I love its endless health and skincare benefits. And so, the green tea line by Innisfree sparked my interest instantly. It has long been released, but I have finally decided to purchase the famous Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Serum. This serum is the best seller from the whole line, being loved and raved about by many.

Just to let you know, my skin is oily- combination and acne prone. I have blemishes, redness and excess oils on my face. I hope you enjoy this review.

Product

Box Description
This nourishing moisture serum is formulated with freshly squeezed Jeju green tea and green tea seeds to create a dewy and clear skin from deep within.

The serum is said to contain "100% squeezed green tea which are rich in amino acids and minerals" and "Dual Moisture-Rising Technology from the green tea and green tea seed oil." These features enable the serum to penetrate into the deeper skin layers, allowing for longer and deeper hydration and nourishment.

Green tea not only hydrates your skin, however can help with blemishes. Since green tea has antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, sun protection and moisturising properties, this serum can help with dark spots, redness, trouble spots and dehydrated skin.

This serum is a clear in colour and has a thin and runny consistency. It also has a strong perfume fragrance. However, this fragrance doesn't irritate my nose or skin.

Application

This serum is made to be applied as the first step of skincare, straight after cleansing the face. This is because the formula is to be absorbed into the deeper skin layers to really provide deep hydration and nourishment. Being applied to fresh and bare skin allows for better absorption.

Straight after cleansing my face. I use one pump full for my whole face, patting it in for better absorption. Its watery and light-weight consistency allows the serum to sink into my skin so effortlessly. There is no sticky-ness, left over oily residue on my face after. My skin drinks the serum in, leaving my face feeling very hydrated and feeling as if I didn't apply anything on my skin. This is because the product absorbs deep into the skin, rather than the surface of the skin.

Effect

After a few weeks of adding this serum to my day and night time skincare, I can tell my skin loves drinking and soaking  up this serum. This serum really calms down irritated skin. My face has reduced in redness and trouble spots. I don't even need to put on my pink spot treatment at night anymore since I haven't gotten any new spots since using this serum.

There is no dewy-ness left by this serum as it absorbs into the skin, but rather it leaves the skin looking as if you haven't applied anything. This serum is great for oily skin, giving it the needed hydration but not over doing it. As for dry skin, I cannot say. However, my pores are less clogged because of this hydrating serum. less clogged pores equals reduction in oils and breakouts.

Overall, my skin now feels hydrated=less oily, calm=reduced redness and non-irritated=less breakouts.  However, one thing that I have yet to see visible results are the appearances of my hyperpigmentation and acne scars. I will definitely update this point after longer use though.

Pros
Suitable for all skin types (Great for my oily skin)
Light weight formula
Absorbs quickly into skin- leaves no oily/sticky/dewy residue
Does not clog pores
Hydrates skin from deep within
Less oily skin
Reduces redness
Prevents breakouts
Soothes and calms irritated skin/spots

Cons
Strong fragrance (Can be a con to some)
Does not  leave the skin looking dewy after application (for those with dry skin)
May be expensive to some
Have yet to see any changes to scars and hyperpigmentation

Will I repurchase? I definitely will when I run out.
